Norwood House

This Grade I listed building was built in the 18th century (circa 1760). Thought to have been designed by Thomas Atkinson of York, one of the leading architects in the reign of George III. Together with the gardens and grounds it has been described by the Garden History Society as ' A very good example of a gentleman's residence and mini-estate'.

The house contains architecturally important features including plasterwork on walls and ceilings, a fine staircase and original woodwork. The exterior has an elegant facade of attractive brickwork, stone dressings and ornamentation. The garden and walks to the rear of the house still exist in their original form, including a ha ha separating the lawns from the rest of the grounds.
